Most skin-care lines promise glow. Some promise confidence. But this one claims to do something a little different: support your skin, your mood and maybe even your love life. In this episode of The Beauty Authority, we sat down with San Diego, CA dermatologist Sabrina Fabi, MD to talk about XOMD, the skin-care line she co-created with her husband, facial plastic surgeon Steven Dayan, MD. The doctors took decades of research on attraction and confidence, along with their clinical experience, and funneled it into a concept they call moodceuticals, skin-care products designed to make you not only look good, but feel more attractive and more connected.

“We’ve always thought of skin care as a way to improve how people look,” says Dr. Fabi. “But people want to feel better. That’s really the end goal. If we could put something on your skin that influences the way you feel, especially how you feel in your skin, that’s meaningful.” And yes, there’s clinical proof it works.

Skin Care That Starts With the Brain

Dr. Fabi shares that the hero of the line is a proprietary blend called OX Factor, a combination of jasmine extract, phytopeptide and phospholipids that mimics the effects of oxytocin, a.k.a. the “love hormone” your body naturally releases when you experience trust, intimacy or bonding.

“Oxytocin has receptors throughout the skin, including in fibroblasts, the same cells that produce collagen and elastin,” explains Dr. Fabi. “We’re not trying to change your face. We’re supporting the biology that helps you show up with more presence and more confidence.”

The idea: If oxytocin can make you feel more relaxed, emotionally connected, and even radiant when you’re falling in love, why can’t we replicate that in a skin-care routine?

Proving the Glow

To validate the concept, Dr. Fabi says the XOMD team didn’t just test for hydration or tone. They ran a double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trial, the same kind used in medical-grade studies. Participants were given either the OX Factor–powered products or placebo versions that looked and felt identical but lacked the active. “At four weeks, we saw statistically significant improvements in skin radiance, evenness and redness reduction. But what was more exciting was what happened at eight weeks, people reported higher confidence and they were perceived as younger.” When blinded third-party reviewers were shown before-and-after photos, they estimated the participants on XOMD looked an average of three years younger, she goes on to explain.

Even more notable? Eighty-six percent of participants said they felt more confident, and 90 percent reported increased sexual satisfaction across nearly every category tracked. “When you feel more confident in your own skin, it changes how you connect with other people,” Dr. Fabi says. “That’s what oxytocin does, it improves your presence. And presence is what makes someone attractive.”

A Speed Dating Trial

To test the real-world impact, the team even hosted a speed dating event. Some participants used XOMD in the lead-up to the night. Others didn’t. The one couple who left together? They were both on XOMD. “We weren’t trying to create a dating hack,” says Dr. Fabi. “But there’s something powerful about walking into a room already feeling like the best version of yourself.”

The Routine (and Where to Start)

If you’re wondering which product to try first, she points to the Intoxicate Serum ($188) as the best entry point. “It delivers the active ingredient and also hydrates beautifully. If your skin is dry or reactive, the Arouse Moisturizer ($155) layers really well over it without feeling greasy.”

There’s also a cleanser, Detox ($48), which is formulated to prep the skin without stripping it, allowing the OX Factor to absorb more effectively. “So many people are chasing results that still leave them feeling empty. We wanted to create something that helps you feel good while you’re getting there.”

And if you’re wondering whether it actually works, Dr. Fabi is clear: in this case, more really is more and you’ll want to follow the clinical trial and use the cleanser, moisturizer and serum. “We need more love,” she says. “More connection. More ways to feel good in our own skin.”
