Gwyneth Paltrow is opening up about her latest wellness focus: BTL Exomind, a noninvasive treatment designed to rewire the brain for better mood and mental clarity. In a new Instagram Reel, the 51-year-old star says she’s been dealing with brain fog and anxiety during perimenopause and was curious about the treatment’s potential.
“I’m super curious about really any modality where there’s not a lot of side effects, which you know shows potential and really helping, especially what I’m going through now with perimenopause, all this brain fog and anxiety,” Paltrow said while getting the treatment. “when I was reading about the treatment, I thought, really interesting. Seems totally safe, really efficacious. So I’m giving it a whirl.”
Exomind uses FDA-cleared transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) to target areas of the brain responsible for emotional regulation, stress response and cognitive clarity. During her treatment her provider, board-certified family physician Georgine Nanos, MD explained, “It’s not pushing happiness into your brain. It’s creating resilience, ability to better manage your thoughts and cope with all the stuff that happens to us.”
Paltrow also gave Emsculpt NEO a spin during her visit, a treatment that electronically stimulates abdominal muscles through rapid contractions. “It’s apparently contracting my abs many times per second.” Paltrow explained. “It feels intense, kind of tickles. It feels like it’s doing something.”
“It’s simulating your abdominal core muscles and contracting them about 20,000 times over the course of the treatments,” said Dr. Nanos.
“It feels kind of good,” replied Paltrow. “I prefer to 20,000 situps this way than the other way.”
The Goop founder is not the only one exploring high-tech approaches to wellness. Serena Williams has credited Exomind with changing how she prioritizes mental health, and Whitney Leavitt of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives recently called it the “ultimate mom-me up” after feeling mentally and physically drained.
For women navigating perimenopause, a treatment like this offers another tool for managing symptoms. Once again, Paltrow is helping redefine what wellness looks like and what it means to take care of yourself from the inside out.
